How to Trade Women's Soccer Prediction Markets: NWSL and WSL

Which women's leagues and contracts can you trade?

NWSL (National Women's Soccer League). The top US women's league. In 2026 it has 16 clubs, with Boston Legacy FC and Denver Summit FC in the league, and each club plays 30 regular-season matches.

WSL (Women's Super League). England's top women's league. It grew to 14 clubs for 2026-27.

What is the difference between the NWSL Shield and the NWSL Championship?

The NWSL Shield goes to the club with the best record at the end of the regular season. The NWSL Championship is won in the playoffs: eight clubs, single matches, three rounds. A club can lead the table all year and lose in the playoffs, and the eighth seed can win the title.

For traders, they are different questions. Kalshi's NWSL Champion contract resolves to Yes if the club is the 2026 NWSL Champion, so it settles on the playoff winner, not on the Shield. We found no Shield market on either exchange when we checked.

How do NWSL and WSL match contracts settle?

On regular time. Kalshi's NWSL and WSL match markets resolve on the result "after 90 minutes plus stoppage time (does not include extra time or penalties)". Polymarket US's settle to the winner at the end of 90 minutes plus stoppage time, with Tie as its own outcome.

That matters in the NWSL playoffs. A playoff match that is level after 90 minutes settles as a tie on these markets, whoever goes through afterward. Kalshi has a separate "to advance" market type for the NWSL, and none was open when we checked. Read the rules on every contract.

How do you trade a thinner market?

Liquidity is the main practical difference. A big fixture can trade well, while a midweek game between mid-table clubs may show only a few orders.

1. Look at the bid and the ask, not the last trade. On a quiet contract the last trade can be hours old.
2. Use limit orders. Set the price you are willing to pay instead of taking whatever is offered.
3. Size small. A large order in a thin book moves the price against you.
4. Check team news late. Lineups and injuries can move a match price quickly.
5. Know the fee. Kalshi charges a transaction fee based on the expected earnings of the contract. Some Kalshi markets also charge a maker fee on resting orders, taken only when the order is filled. The order ticket shows the fee before you confirm. Since October 2026 Polymarket US charges a taker fee on orders that fill straight away, worked out from the price: on standard markets it is highest for contracts near 50 cents (about $1.74 per 100 contracts) and falls toward 1 cent and 99 cents. Orders that rest on the book pay no fee; rebates on them are limited to very high-volume traders from October 19, 2026.

Can you trade women's soccer contracts in your state?

It depends on the state and the platform. As of October 13, 2026, Kalshi's sports contracts are blocked by court order in three states: Nevada, Michigan and Washington. Elsewhere the law is unsettled. Federal appeals courts have split on sports event contracts: the Third Circuit sided with Kalshi on April 6, 2026, and the Ninth Circuit (August 28, 2026) and the Sixth Circuit (September 25, 2026) sided with the states. Kalshi asked the full Sixth Circuit to rehear the case on October 9, 2026; the court has not ruled. Three Supreme Court petitions (Nos. 26-299, 26-338 and 26-344) are pending and none has been granted.
