Quick answer
To trade soccer on Kalshi: create and verify an account, deposit USD, open the soccer category, read the contract rules, then place a limit order in cents. Each contract settles at $1.00 if your side is correct and $0.00 if it is not. Kalshi is CFTC-regulated and available in all 50 states plus DC. 21+ only.
Kalshi is an exchange, not a sportsbook. You are not taking a price from a house — you are buying a contract from another trader, at a price both sides agreed on. That one difference changes how you should think about every soccer market on the platform.

Step by step
- Create and verify a Kalshi account. Sign up with your legal name, date of birth and SSN for identity verification. Kalshi is a CFTC-regulated exchange, so verification is mandatory. You must be 21 or older.
- Deposit funds. Fund the account by bank transfer, debit card or wire. Balances are held in USD; there is no crypto wallet step.
- Open the soccer category. Browse to the soccer section and pick a competition — Premier League, Champions League, La Liga or a single fixture.
- Read the contract terms. Every market has a rules page stating exactly what settles YES. Check whether extra time and penalties count before you trade a knockout tie.
- Place a limit order. Enter the price in cents you are willing to pay and the number of contracts. A limit order rests in the book until matched; a market order fills immediately at the best available price.
- Manage or exit the position. You can sell your contracts at any time the market is open, or hold to settlement, where winners pay $1.00 per contract and losers pay nothing.
Understanding the contract
Every Kalshi soccer market is a YES/NO contract that settles at $1.00 or $0.00. The price is the market’s probability estimate. Buying Arsenal to win the league at 24¢ means risking 24¢ to win 76¢ — a payout of roughly 4.17 in decimal odds.
| Contract price | Implied probability | Decimal odds | American |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10¢ | 10% | 10.00 | +900 |
| 25¢ | 25% | 4.00 | +300 |
| 50¢ | 50% | 2.00 | +100 |
| 75¢ | 75% | 1.33 | -300 |
| 90¢ | 90% | 1.11 | -900 |
Reading the order book
The book shows resting bids and asks in cents. The gap between the best bid and the best ask is your real cost of entry — on a thin soccer market that spread can be wider than any sportsbook margin, so check it before you trade. Deep markets on major fixtures usually quote within one or two cents.
Use limit orders by default. A market order on an illiquid soccer contract can walk several cents up the book and turn a good idea into a bad fill.

Fees, and why they still beat the vig
Kalshi charges a trading fee per contract that peaks near the 50¢ price point and shrinks toward the extremes, plus a settlement fee on winnings. There is no built-in overround: a soccer market’s prices sum to about 100¢ rather than the 105–120¢ typical of a sportsbook. On a season-long hold that difference compounds heavily in your favour. Mistakes new soccer traders make
- Not reading settlement rules. Whether extra time counts is the single most common surprise in cup markets.
- Trading thin books at market. Check the spread first, always.
- Holding to settlement out of habit. You can sell. Most of the value in an outright position is captured before the season ends.
- Ignoring fee drag near 50¢. Frequent trading around coin-flip prices is where fees bite hardest.
Frequently asked questions
Is Kalshi legal for soccer trading in the US?
Yes. Kalshi is a CFTC-regulated designated contract market and its event contracts are available in all 50 states plus Washington DC. Traders must be 21 or older.
How much does it cost to trade on Kalshi?
There is no spread markup like a sportsbook. Kalshi charges a per-contract trading fee that scales with the contract price and is highest near 50¢, plus a settlement fee on winning positions.
What soccer markets does Kalshi list?
League and cup outright winners, top scorer markets, match winner contracts on major fixtures, and totals or both-teams-to-score markets on selected games.
What is the minimum trade on Kalshi?
One contract. Because contracts settle at $1.00, a single position can cost as little as a few cents, which makes it practical to test a market before sizing up.
How do Kalshi prices convert to betting odds?
A contract price in cents equals the implied probability. A 40¢ contract is 40%, which is 2.50 in decimal odds or +150 American.
When do soccer contracts settle?
Match markets settle shortly after the final whistle once the result is official. Season-long outrights settle when the competition concludes.
